This project is a new custom energy efficient raised ranch with mudroom, garage and a little extra for the young daughters’ delight.
The clients had a good handle on the parts and pieces they wanted in their new home. They just needed a bit of help to get there. By listening to their ideas and dreams for the home, we were able to create this home so that each room had the view, adjacencies, lighting (morning or evening) and parental control that the homeowners requested.
They wanted openness and flexibility- which the clear span floor and roof trusses provided. They needed a home office space and a living room that could double as a relaxed greeting space/ impromptu conference room when work dictated, without having the whole rest of the private areas too exposed.
They wanted something special for their daughter that they treasured which turned out to be a play area built in under the stairs to the lower level.
The lower level of this home (where the bedrooms are) is sunk partway into the sloping site allowing for a buffering effect from the ground while simultaneously making the most of the foundation.
Safety being very important to the clients and KLG, Egress windows are placed at the appropriate height in the bedrooms and living areas allowing for ample light and views of the serene valley below.
The roof is designed to accept both hot water and electric solar panels, though the homeowners are holding off installing them until after the next big break through.
